KEEP YOUR VAGINA HEALTHY….NO PANTIES

My first visit to the gynecologist, years back. she said to me two things that are vital for maintaining a healthy vagina: DON’T use a douche (it throws off the natural pH [between 3.8-4.5] of the vagina) and DON’T wear panties to bed at night. She went further with this explanation:

She broke down the reasons to me in a way that I could understand. According to Dr. Mary Lynn M.D. OB/GYN at Loyola University Medical Center, “the vagina needs air to help the good bacteria within it to flourish and maintain a healthy vaginal environment.” She further explained that the “vagina is a collapsed muscle so it is important to keep a good flow of air in that area of the body.”

When the vagina isn’t allowed to get enough air, bad bacteria has the opportunity to grow out of control and cause infections that can cause itching, burning and unpleasant odor. That is why yeast infections are often associated with wearing tight clothes..the restriction of airflow that comes with wearing tight pants aids in the growth of bad bacteria. So you might want to rethink rocking those pants that give you a camel toe on a daily basis, especially if they aren’t made of cotton and you’re not going commando.

The more air your vagina gets the better! Not only are you giving your vagina the proper air that it needs by going commando, but you’re doing a major justice to your bum by creating a seamless look that makes your cheeks look amazing in those fitted pants you love so much. Do ditch the panties every once in awhile and give your vajayjay some time to breathe. Just remember to batten down the hatches on the flared skirt of your dress if you decided to go commando on a windy day.

If you are the conservative woman that absolutely refuses to leave the house without underwear, opt out for cotton options during the day (cotton is an extremely breathable fabric that will aid in the proper air flow to the vagina) and sleep without the undies at night in a comfy pair of cotton pajama pants. You will feel healthier, maintain a healthy vaginal environment and your hello kitty will thank you in the end.
